Ela era um primaballerina, cheia de si, mas perde a visão e os pais. Torna-se pior ainda, maltrata todo mundo, faz exigências descabidas, grita, tem faniquitos. Ele é um anjo meio atrapalhado que a salva da morte certa, quando não devia. Como castigo, vai precisar ensinar a ela o que é o amor. Tarefa árdua e ele não tem um pingo de paciência. Neste meio tempo, ela recebe um transplante de córnea e passa a enxergar, mas tem problemas de locomoção como trauma. Enquanto isso, a família imediata dela quer tomar conta dos negócios altamente lucrativos de uma fundação cultural e tem um diretor artístico que não se sabe se é do bem ou do mal rondando a casa...

Parece que o ator foi escolhido a dedo: ele tem cara de garotinho travesso, seus olhos parecem estar sempre brincando, seu sorriso tem covinhas, está constantemente despenteado...

Acho um pouco exagerado a quantidade de lágrimas e os "vai e volta", mas... entretem.

Quando Gian leva a mão para acertar o rabo de cavalo, a camisa sobe na cintura e consigo ver a lateral de seu torso. A loba dentro de mim quer arreganhar os dentes. Prendo a respiração para me controlar, mas não consigo evitar lamber meus lábios. Que pedaço de homem gostoso!

143. My Royal Nemesis

 KDrama no. 143 - My Royal Nemesis ***

I usually follow some groups of kdramas fans on Facebook and as soon as the new one featured in Netflix the buzz started: My Royal Nemesis. Much was said about the male actor, almost nothing about the story. Polemics were raised around him being beautiful or not, or rather, being ugly or not. According to my appraisal he is ugly, but his presence and interpretation of the powerful CEO and scarred prince made beauty be irrelevant. Also, he loved intensely and was not easily abated by the obstacles in his way to tame the lady who was always in distress, but fought like a lioness before surrendering to her fate. His character smiled scarcely and made us crave to see his face relax. Mostly dressed in dark colours, the last scene shows him at ease and wearing white, playing around with his loved one. Although I applaud his performance, much has to be said about the writers who gave him an excellent text and tempo. A note about onscreen positioning: I abhor Korean actors who are constantly with their hands in their pockets irrespectively of the situation. Heo Nam-Jun commits a terrible mistake while sitting with his hands in his pockets: it is such a terrible pose, so ridiculous!

The story is about a comet that is crossing the sky in the Joseon era and the present time. Some freak happening of nature sends a condemned lady from the palace where she lives to the street smack into the CEO’s life. They hate each other immediately but he is the only one she can turn to for help in this strange place and he slowly feels sorry for the mad woman. A big mistake/fault in the story line is that, at first, she is a concubine being punished for cheating. However, the rest of the time, she is just a lady of the palace who falls in love for a retired prince.

142. The K2

 KDrmano. 142 - O K2 ****

Ela é uma pobre menina rica, cuja madrasta a odeia e persegue. A megera tenta mantê-la longe do pai, em escolas internas, orfanatos, abadias, mas a guria sempre dá um jeito de escapar. Por duas vezes, o destino faz com que se encontre com um também fugitivo e ela pede ajuda, mas a situação não é favorável. Num terceiro encontro desse tipo, ele é contratado para ser guarda-costas da garota e a madrasta o apelida de K2, sendo que o K1 reveza com ele na função.

Uma observação: K2 é o apelido da montanha mais alta e mortal da Ásia.

Embora o casal se apaixone, K2 é extremamente fiel à megera, que tem uma carta na manga com relação a ele. Percorrerão um longo caminho até a liberdade.

 I learned something today that surprised me, but a lesson we all need to heed. Taryl, our executive director at Arabian Horse Association of Arizona, always gives me some free passes to the Scottsdale Show so that I can pass them out to folks that live in the greater Scottsdale community. 

I give tickets to the dry cleaners, the grocers, the tack store, anyone and everyone. So this morning, while at the gym I go to, yes I go to a gym six days a week, but thats another story, only about 10% of the people in the gym were interested in going to the World famous Scottsdale Horse Show even with a free pass. 

Man, I was disappointed, but what I quickly learned, we as a breed are still not educating, getting the word out about these amazing horses. I spent some time explaining the virtues of the Arabian Horse, and convinced some more of the folks at the gym to come out and meet some Arabian Horses up close and personal. 

I am a nut about trying to continually bring new people into our world. My point, don't take our love for our world for by face value, go out and tell the story, let them touch, hug, smell this incredible creature and I promise some, maybe many, will fall in love. 

For me I continue to think of ways to introduce this horse to as many people as I can. For today, I am spending my afternoon handing out free passes right next to the "Girl Scout Cookie Stand" outside my Fry's grocery store. I am committed to promote and market the Arabian Horse.

141. Holo My Love

 KDrama no. 141 - Holo Meu Amor ****

She cannot see faces properly, therefore, is very shy, has no friend, is considered nasty at her office and is treated accordingly. Her life changes when a pair of glasses is put in her bag and it is not a common pair of glasses but a state-of-the-art tool that connects the person wearing it to the hologram of a powerful AI. It happens that it has the image of a boy, a handsome one, a gentle guy, intelligent, attentive, specially invented to cater to the glass wearer’s most inner wishes. And so, the girl falls in love with the AI named Holo. 

The inventor of the thing is a lonely boy who, needing a friend, a company, made Holo with his own image. Nan-Do has to get the pair of glasses back and will inevitably have to face the girl in order to retrieve it. Now you can imagine the confusion.

Very worth watching.

140. Undercover Miss Hong

 K-Drama no.140 - Hong, A Infiltrada ***

She works for a kind of IRS and a prosecutor does not accept her case against a big financial corporation allegedly for lack of proof. Therefore, she manages to get hired by the company under false pretences and tries to get all the evidence necessary to uncover the hidden money. It is an almost plausible story, there is very little fantasy and plus, it is fun to watch. Enjoy it!

Ela trabalha para um tipo de Receita Federal e quer provar que uma empresa que vende fundos de ações tem um caixa dois e prejudica seus acionistas, mas quando apresenta seu caso o promotor diz que não há evidências suficientes. Ela resolve se infiltrar na financeira e a forma que encontra é alegar que tem 20 aninhos para passar no concurso de recepcionista/secretária/assistente. Uma grande de uma bela mentira, já que tem 35 primaveras na verdade. Em meio a muitas confusões, ela angaria alguns simpatizantes e auxiliares, conseguindo alcançar seu intuito.

Apesar da mentira deslavada - desnecessária a meu ver, ela podia dizer ser só um pouquinho mais nova - da idade, o resto todo é muito próximo da realidade, então, crível. É divertido e vale assistir. Romance? Nah!

 KDrama no. 139 - Uma Seul Desconhecida ***

As gêmeas costumam trocar de lugar uma com a outra quando as coisas estão difíceis. Na história, todos sofrem, o tempo todo tem alguém chorando. São poucos os risos, muitas considerações internas, questionamentos introspectivos. Como elas não dão detalhes do que está realmente acontecendo naquele momento, o sofrimento é maior. Teria sido importante se conversassem. Mas assim é. 

Entram no enredo o crush da infância, que está perdendo a audição, uma graça de garoto, advogado muito íntegro, que prefere ficar desempregado a fazer coisas escusas. Um herdeiro de uma plantação de morangos precisa de mão de obra, contrata uma das meninas e se envolve com ela.

Tem o ambiente tóxico de escritório, grandes corporações, as maldades dos colegas, as sacanagens dos chefes e patrões, os interesses políticos, a procura por seu lugar ao sol, o sofrimento da perda de entes queridos. Tudo muito complexo.

Eu preferia não recomendar, mas se não há alternativa, pelo menos passa o tempo.

Ela é uma princesa rebelde - até a página 5, porque daí em frente, não demonstra essa independência toda. Ele é um erudito, professor do irmãozinho dela, que vai se meter em confusões para desvencilhá-la das bagunças em que se mete. O rei está em segundas núpcias com uma mulher ambiciosa que quer se livrar dos três: do pai, dela e do enteado. Apenas distrai. Aliás, sou grande admiradora do vestuário nos doramas de época, só que neste exageraram na opulência das roupas dos ricos, tudo muito rebuscado.

O mulherio adora o ator principal, Lee Jun-ho e de quem eu só havia assistido a uma série, bonitinha, embora a parceira dele tenha os olhos muito inexpressivos que me incomodam. Achei que era hora de ver outro dorama estrelado pelo belo e escolhi o do garoto cujo pai morre e resolve assumir a empresa da família que estava a beira de falir. Contando com ele, são seis funcionários no total e todos lutam para sobreviver durante a crise econômica que a Coreia do Sul enfrentou no final dos anos 1990. 

O garoto é impetuoso e assume alguns riscos em compras que faz para revender. Ainda por cima, enfrenta a maldade e a cobiça de adversários do pai, que usam de seu poder e do fato de estarem bem das pernas naquele momento. Tem o caso dos tecidos, das botas de segurança, dos capacetes resistentes, das luvas de borracha, das ventoinhas de computador e é insucesso atrás de insucesso. Em determinado momento, sobram no escritório ele e a contadora, o resto, por um motivo ou outro joga a toalha e vai buscar outras ocupações. Obviamente surge um romance entre o casal, mas este não é o tema principal e sim a resiliência do jovem e sua criatividade.

Horse owner acquantances fall into 2 categories.

The horse person...

And

The non horse person.

The Horse person knows the difference between a bridle and a halter...

What a hoof pick is...

 And which end the combo piece of the rug goes.

 They are the ones you call when your horse goes through a fence...

 Gets injured...

 And arrive bearing all essentials including pain relief.

The horse person is the one who takes turns walking a colicking horse....

Speaks to the vet...

And is your voice of reason when you cannot be.

When given baling twine...

The Horse person morphs into a modern day MacGyver...

There is nothing they cannot fix.

They examine poop with you..

Hold torches for you....

And have a wardrobe with one section dedicated to "Paddock Fashion".

During the summer months a horse person's choice of makeup is dirt and sweat...

With numerous "beauty" spots...

Also known as flies.

The horse person has a tack shed that to an outsider looks like a tangled mess of ropes and leather...

But not to them....

They are able to put their hand on exactly what they need in a heartbeat.

When asked...

 "Can you just check the horses on the way past?"

The horse person knows this means....

Check the water..

Check the fenceline...

 Check the gates shut..

 And check for injuries.

The horse person lives by...

 "The Survival guide of the bush"....

 The horse will always kick...

 The bull will always charge...

 And the gun is always loaded.

 Remember those rules and life will be a little easier.

 When greeted by flattened ears from a mare in season..

 The horse person will casually walk right up and say....

 "Mornin' Darlin' is that the best you've got."

 The horse person is often covered in scrapes and bruises with blisters on their hands...

 They will be sore where you didnt think it would be possible to be sore....

 And quite often have a broken bone or two.....

Mention a Doctor and the response will be

"Nah she'll be right".

They are the ones who take note of wind changes thru bushfires...

And message you telling you that the float is hooked up and they are on their way to get your horses out.

The horse person knows what Psyllium is used for....

And the importance of salt.

They can rattle off every worming paste they have ever used on the horses.

 And the date of the next treatment...

 But ask them when they last had a personal health check...

 You will be met with a blank stare.

 And whilst they are there for all of the good days...

 They are also there for the hardest.

 The horse person will make the call when you cannot...

 And offer to hold the lead rope as you say goodbye.

 They will know whether to stand by your side...

 Or give you the space that you desire...

 But either way...

 It'll be done as their own silent tears roll down their face.

 And whilst the horses will always be our herd.

 It is the ones we call a "horse person"...

 Who will always be our tribe🌿

A New Beginning

 

Just yesterday I learned through Blogspot that more than 95 pct of my viewers are probably English-speaking persons! So, why waste my time writing in my native language if my fellow country man and woman (less than 0,52 pct) do not bother to visit my blog? I know of only one good friend that usually comes to see what is cooking in my freaking mind — thank you, Tiane. So, from now on the Bard’s words is what will be found here!!!

This blog started in 2007, mainly because I love writing, but also because I was launching my first romance in Portuguese — later it was translated to English: “Walk Trot Gallop”. I was frequently asked why didn’t I write a long story because my main work was short fiction and cronics. After reading the same novel for the umpteenth time because I loved it so much, I said to myself: maybe I can try and do something like this. I chose to write something related to horses, which I breed and therefore know a little bit about and 9 months before I started it came about. I was very proud of myself because it was a challenge and I took it up front. Now, the line-up is Passo Trote Galope, Quer Apostar?, Sob o Signo de Centauro, Carrossel, Vale das Luas, Perdi a Cabeça and Só Cinco Noites. There is also a short story published with another one from my sister — Dois em Um — unfortunately, with the exception of the first one, all in Portuguese, but maybe this will change in the future.

So, the main subjects in this blog are my books, horses of the Arab breed, Rio de Janeiro — my beloved city, films and books, some very personal observations about life and spoilers of the latest vice: k-dramas. Welcome to my humble abode and hope you enjoy the reading.

 KDrama no. 136 - Meu Ídolo ***

Quase tive uma síncope quando, no 11o. episódio (o penúltimo da série), parece que estavam finalizando a história. Mas, ufa! Nada disso. Porém, não foi um término com fogos de artifício e banda de fanfarra. Ela é uma advogada séria, compenetrada, tomada como exemplo no escritório em que trabalha. Quando sai de lá, veste todos os penduricalhos de uma fã de um cantor de pop-rock. Ele faz parte de um grupo de quatro como líder e quer tentar voo próprio. Numa noite de bebedeira se envolve em um crime e agora tem que provar não ser o culpado. Ela se oferece para ajudá-lo.

Acho que não!

"Teu livro passa no "Teste de Bechdel"?

Recentemente, assisti ao filme "RED: crescer é uma fera" (2022), da diretora Domee Shi, e vi ali um exemplo claro do chamado "Teste de Bechdel". O teste tem três regras básicas:

1) Ter duas ou mais mulheres — no mínimo duas personagens femininas que tenham nomes e relevância dentro da obra. (Confere!)

2) Conversar entre si — essas personagens precisam dialogar uma com a outra em algum momento da trama. (Confere!)

3) Não falar sobre homens — o assunto da conversa entre elas não pode ser sobre um homem (ou relacionamentos com homens). (Hum, se for durante o livro todo, definitivamente não!)

É um bom mecanismo para moldar tramas mais diversas, além de ser uma provocação para sairmos da zona de conforto.

Muita gente não entende o fascínio pelos dramas coreanos, ou asiáticos. Posso tentar explicar e não vai aqui nenhuma ordem de prioridade:

1. a produção em geral é excelente. 

2. O fato de a série vir num pacote que tem começo, meio e fim atrai bastante, porque o espectador controla o tempo que vai dispender na frente da tela e, também, não precisa ficar aguardando por uma semana "as cenas dos próximos capítulos" - a não ser que tenha escolhido assistir aos lançamentos.

3. Na grande maioria das vezes, os protagonistas são m-u-i-t-o bonitos e/ou elegantes. E, como em toda fantasia, gentis, charmosos, misteriosos, atenciosos, embora a gente veja no pano de fundo uma sociedade coreana na qual patrões batem em empregados, professores são estúpidos, o preconceito de classe/ocupação/educação vigora, ser pai ou mãe solteiro (a) desabona. Mas, o que vale mesmo, é o sonho, o príncipe encantado.

Com relação à beleza dos artistas masculinos, um detalhe que atrai bastante o público feminino é o exotismo das figuras, que só faz somar aos enredos. 

Considerem os desenhos das bocas desses artistas! Ji Chang-Wook, Byeon Woo-Seok, Kim Soo-Hyun, Lee Byung-Hun, Na In-Woo, Yoo Ji-Tae, Ahn Bo-Hyun.

Vejam a doçura da figura como um todo: Park Yung-Sik, Kim Min-Kiu, Jung Hae-In, Kim Seon-Ho, Kang Tae-Ho.

Olhares penetrantes: Nam Joo-Hyuk, Namgung Min, Seo Kang-Joon, Kim Ji-Hoon, Lee Sun-Kyun.
