Considerações sobre a relação escritor/editor:

     Ele deveria te levar pela mão, mas olha pra você e avalia se vê cifrão.

     Ele deveria corrigir seus erros, orientar seu texto, te impedir da falta de sentido, mas isto custa caro. Daí, seu livro sai errado, confuso.

     Ele deveria usar a própria mala direta para divulgar os livros que lança - GENTE, ISTO É O MÍNIMO, NÃO?

     Ele deveria tentar - ao menos TENTAR - vender o livro que editou, NÉ NÃO? De outra forma, pra que você precisa dele? Arrumar ISBN, mole! Gráfica? Entre em contato com as melhores do país, faça uma tomada de preços et... voilá! Vender, colocar em livrarias? Aí é dureza, mas ligue não, pegue uma toalhinha, estenda no calçadão num domingo e venda sem pudor. Arrume salgados e bebidas, chame os amigos e venda com fé, que eles vêm! 

     Fiz um teste para uma revista impressa no Rio e fui rejeitada pelo editor, porque escrevi sobre um restaurante em São Paulo - cara, meu, mermão, véio, xará, prestenção! - era só um teste, não tinha tema específico, era pra ver se eu sabia escrever, se tinha estilo! Mas, ainda assim, o editor tentou ser simpático e me recomendou outra revista, em São Paulo, e funcionou! Fiquei encarregada de dar dicas sobre os estabelecimentos de comida locais e foi tudo bem durante uma época em que eu ia à Desvairada com bastante frequência. Depois, não deu mais, porque perdi a periodicidade...

     Há pouco, o editor acima saiu da revista e, novamente, lá fui eu apresentar o meu ofício. Colou! Ficou estabelecido que meu tema seria sempre sobre coisas cariocas. Minha coluna até foi batizada de Nan Carioca. Eu estava feliz com meu novo editor, ele me dá retorno, interfere no texto e avisa quando o faz e suas correções são sempre bem-vindas. Esta semana, porém, recebi minha cópia da revista e fui ler o que escrevi. Surpresa: eu não aparecia! Meu editor predileto deixou meu texto de lado e fez ele mesmo a coluna. E NÃO SE LIMITOU À CARIOQUICE IMPOSTA!!! Primeiro, não liguei, mas agora, acho que magoei... :(

      Só por causa disto, publico aqui a minha pesquisa, mas não me entenda mal, este editor ainda mora no meu coração!

With the eyes of another

It is there and is free of charge. He is said to be irascible, and indeed, many of his characters are. But he is able to tell their stories with a good measure of fun. Furthermore, the exhibition is about his views focused on the carioca way of life as seen by a born gaucho. Luis Fernando Veríssimo, 78, is a writer, a charger and a musician with many published works. UNIRIO, the federal university of Rio de Janeiro, collected the ones with his observations of the why and how of Wonder City’s inhabitants.

Married with three children to the Rio born Lúcia Helena, he writes, among others, to the carioca newspaper O Globo. It is of his craft the joke about a fight on which mineiros, paulistas and gauchos all participate, except the carioca, because he… fled from it. Veríssimo also demystifies the alleged good humour of cariocas: one has just to hop on a crowded bus going from Copacabana to Grajaú on a summer day… According to him a heavenly moment is to partake of a barbecue made by gauchos, on a beach of the Northeast of Brazil, with women from Minas Gerais, organized by paulistas and entertained by cariocas. However, it is a nightmare to have the barbecue if made by mineiros, at a gaucho beach, with women from the Northeast, entertained by paulistas and organized by cariocas. Politically incorrect, or what?

The author teaches how to explain the tube works’ holes to a foreigner: never tell the truth – which is that the Metro will be ready when the Christ on Corcovado loses his patience and puts his hands on his waist… It is better to say that it is an excavation in search of an ancient civilization called the Cariocas.

This multifaceted artist developed his penchant for drawing creating the cartoon’s snakes As Cobras: pessimistic, disillusioned, defying of the, then, dictatorship, the green reptile couple are known to claim from a response from heaven (to whatever question they had) with no reply, after a pause one of them suggests: “Try it in English!” Such creativity led a Samba school in Porto Alegre to use him as inspiration for this 2014 Carnival parade and with that win the competition.

The main objective of the exhibition prepared by UNIRIO of Veríssimos’ works is to stimulate the young generation to read. Visitors will find at the University’s library an extensive show with his books, panels with his drawings, plus videos and games.

Visitors are welcome up until the 9^th May from 10 am to 10 pm, Mondays through Fridays, at 436 Pasteur Ave., Urca.
